Crown were appointed to totally renovate the former Grand Prix Collection Museum at Donington Park Race Circuit in Derbyshire. The five interlinking ground floor warehouses are the new home for SuperBike’s first new branch following the establishment of the headquarters in Macclesfield. As part of the design and fit out, Crown were responsible for the design of the new biker destination “Factory Heads” Café in which we were responsible for the front and back of house servery elements together with the overall café design concept. The first three halls were renovated into bike showroom space with new lighting, warehouse floorpaint, suspended ceilings and decoration. Hall 5 involved the technical design of the engineering workshop incorporating MOT bay, Photo Bay, Tech Bays and the co-ordination of specialist automotive workshop equipment. Aside from the Café, key areas of design involved Reception, Accessories Shop and the Customer Handover Area. The industrial design theme involving exposed services, reclaimed timber and specialist lighting has created a new brand for SuperBike to use as they expand over the coming years.
Externally, working alongside the landlord’s contractors on the improvement to the site’s car parking and landscaping appearance and functionality, Crown were responsible for the installations of concrete hardstandings for the external wash bay & plant compounds, paladin fencing and gates, converting an inner courtyard from a “wasteland” to a fully tarmac bike storage area of some 100 sq m as well as additional cladding to improve the main entrance.
The 16 week project sees this exciting site go live early in September with some 700 motorcycles moving to site during August.
